Looking Back
This past month in Pre-K we finished up our Water Unit, talking about oceans, lakes, rivers, and ponds. During Earth Day we learned about how to take care of our earth and all about trees.

This past week we have been concentrating on the cycle of the butterfly. We are raising live caterpillars in the classroom and took field trip to see the play, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

During the month of May we will continue our Watch it Grow Unit. Students will learn more about butterflies, plant in our garden and take a trip to Flores to understand, “where do groceries come from?”.

Parent Involvement
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered on the field trip. We couldn’t do it without you!

I encourage parents to come for a visit on you child’s highlighted day. Parents can participate in an activity, read a story, or help out during free choice time.

On Friday, May 7th future and current Pre-K moms are invited to “Moms’ Night Out” at Café Ballou. An evite was sent out to those moms with email. If you did not receive an evite and are interested in attending, please see me. Please respond on the evite or to me in person if you plan to attend. This is a great opportunity for moms to get together for a social night of fun!

End of the Year
The end of the school year is fast approaching. The last day of school for Pre-K is June 11th. Such transitions can be hard for young children. Please help me in preparing your child for the end of the school year. Talk to them about summer and how their schedule will change.

Over the summer keep your child’s mind active. Continue to challenge your child and read to them daily. Summer work packets will be provided.

We will be having our end of the year Pre-K celebration on Monday, June 14th. The event will take place in school gymnasium at 9:30 a.m. Parents and students are encouraged to come. More information will be given closer to the event.
