Thanks to all of the parents who attended our Parent meeting. It was really great to meet all the new parents and also to see many familiar faces! I hope you found the information helpful. I am attaching the notes from the meeting so you can review anything you might have missed. We are off to a great start. Here are some ways you can help you child have a great year in 6th grade:
8 Important Things To Ensure Success in 6th Grade
1.Homework: Students must complete all homework on time. Students will have some reading to do every night. No late work will be accepted.

2.Compass: Students must choose a regular time to come to the computer lab and work on compass. Students can also access Compass at home!

3.Be involved: Ask students daily about assignments and homework. Check student homework. Does it meet your standards?

4.Read at home: Have your child read aloud to you or take turns reading at home. It is a proven fact that reading aloud improves reading.

5.Stay Informed: Check Parent Portal. There is a link on the school web page. Check your email for progress updates. Read your school newsletter.

6.Create Study Routines: Set a time and place for homework to be done. Make a habit of checking student agendas and checking off completed assignments. Help students become independent workers.

7.Read Just Right Books: Help students find books that are at their Lexile level. Talk about what they are reading.

8.Celebrate Good Work! Take time to reflect on hard work and enjoy successes.
